A price signal is information conveyed, to consumers and producers, via the price charged for a product or service, thus providing a signal to increase supply and/or decrease demand for the priced item.

Douglas Eger is the former Chairman and CEO of AMEX-listed Sheffield Pharmaceuticals, which he led to an IPO, and has founded multiple companies in the areas of technology development and corporate finance including: EIG, an intellectual property development and venture capital concern; Kachina Capital, a firm that advised companies on strategic and financial matters; TechSource, a technology transfer company serving private and public universities — Harvard Medical School, Carnegie Mellon University, Texas A&M, Baylor College of Medicine, the University California System, and INSERM (French equivalent of the U.S. National Institutes of Health) to name a few; Waterboy Products, a consumer sporting goods manufacturing company which he sold to Igloo Corporation.

Louis Jordan, Advisor

Louis Jordan became Senior Vice President – Finance for Starbucks Coffee Company on February 23, 2009. Prior to that position, Mr. Jordan served as Chief Financial Officer – Global Retail and Digital Commerce for Nike, Inc., in which his management scope included finance responsibility for all Nike-owned retail and factory stores as well as digital commerce activities globally. He joined Nike in February 2003 as Chief Financial Officer – USA Retail, and he also headed up Global Business Planning for Nike, Inc., for two years.

Mr. Jordan received BA and MA degrees in history from Westmar College and Brown University, respectively. He earned an MBA in finance from the Kelley School of Business in 1980. At IU, Mr. Jordan was a Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Fellow, President of the Finance Guild, and recipient of the Outstanding MBA Award in 1980. Since receiving his MBA, he has worked for a succession of Fortune 500 companies, including DuPont, Dun & Bradstreet, Citibank, Duracell, and The Gap.

Mr. Jordan has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kelley School of Business Alumni Association and as President of its San Francisco Bay Area Alumni Chapter. He has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Indiana University Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation since 2006.


Scott Minick, Advisor

Scott Minick is the President and CEO of BIND Therapeutics, Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a new class of highly selective targeted and programmable therapeutics for cancer and other diseases. Prior to this, Mr. Minick joined ARCH Ventures Partners in 1998 where he held the position of Managing Director through 2010 where he was instrumental in the start-up, development and financing of numerous portfolio companies; he was also the director, President and COO of SEQUUS Pharmaceuticals, a public biopharmaceutical company that was acquired by ALZA. He serves as a board director for BIND, Chiasma and Sorbent Therapeutics and was Chairman of the Board of California Pacific Medical Center through 2009. Mr. Minick is currently a board member of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and was recently the recipient of the prestigious Ernst & Young New England Entrepreneur of the Year award in the category of Life Sciences. He received his postgraduate training in neurobiology at the Salk Institute, an M.B.A. from Northwestern University and a B.A. with Honors from the University of California at San Diego.

Dr. Holly Dublin, Advisor

Dr. Holly Dublin has spent the past three decades as an active practitioner in the field of sustainability — linking the inherent values of biodiversity and ecosystem services to human livelihoods and well-being. After 20 years on the staff of WWF’s Africa & Madagascar Programme, she served as the elected Chair of the Species Survival Commission, the largest of six Commissions of the IUCN with over 7,500 conservation scientists and practitioners. Ms. Dublin has been the Chair of the IUCN SSC’s African Elephant Specialist Group for over 20 years. She has led many technical evaluations for the GEF, UNEP, IUCN, WWF and other NGOs and development agencies.

Ms. Dublin has been an active player in local, national and international policy forums including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora (CITES), The Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and has served as a Liaison Delegate to the World Business Council on Sustainable Development (WBCSD). She serves on the Sustainability Technical Advisory Group of Kering and is a Specialist advisor for the Zeitz Foundation.


Dr. Will Turner, Advisor

Dr. Will Turner, Chief Scientist and Senior Vice President at Conservation International, has degrees in computer engineering and ecology and worked in the tech industry before turning toward the world’s environmental and development challenges. Since then, He has become a leading figure in understanding and mapping the connections between human societies and natural capital, and creating innovative solutions to safeguard nature for the billions who depend on it.

A native of Austin, Texas, Mr. Turner studied computer engineering at The University of Texas and earned his Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona. He has published popular and peer-reviewed articles in fields including climate change, ecosystem services, sustainable development, ecology, evolution, urbanization, monitoring and accountability, and the psychological relationships between people and nature. 

Paul Dolan, Advisor & Director of Intrinsic Capital — Agriculture

As a 4th generation winemaker (and, later, president) at Fetzer Vineyards in California's Mendocino County, Paul Dolan chose to make a difference in how the winery grew grapes and how the company did business. In his 27 years at Fetzer, he helped oversee its transition from a small family-owned winery to an employee-based organization selling wine across the globe. Through his persistent efforts, his vision for Fetzer was realized: " be recognized as the environmentally, and socially conscious winery, committed to making the highest quality, best valued wines in the world." During this time frame, his company grew to record levels. He served on the boards of the Wine Institute and Business for Social Responsibility and is a founder of Wine Vision. He participated on President Clinton's Council on Sustainable Business, and he chaired the California Sustainable Alliance Board and the California Wine Institute. In addition he was one of two California companies to receive the Governor's Leadership award for their work around climate change. Mr. Dolan currently advocates for the possibility of the creation of a new contextual framework for farming by shifting from the current industrial model to a regenerative system designed to build resilience and vitality into the farm.

Peter Hero, Special Advisor

Peter Hero is founder and principal of The Hero Group whose mission is to provide organizations, corporations and individuals with the tools to build greater philanthropic assets — financial, human, programmatic — for maximum social impact.

Mr. Hero’s expertise has been developed by over 30-years in non-profit, for profit, higher education, and foundation management. Following a successful business career as an entrepreneur, he then spent 17 years as CEO of Community Foundation Silicon Valley. There he took a small organization with total assets of just $8M and built it into Silicon Valley's regional "Center on Philanthropy" working with 400 families, and 25 major technology firms. With assets of $1.2B, the foundation awarded charitable grants of over $3M per week, regionally and globally.

Mr. Hero has advised organizations and high net worth individuals in 15 countries on creating high impact philanthropy. He has also served on numerous corporate, public, and family foundation Boards, including The Skoll Foundation, PBS, Pax-Vax, Mobile Accord, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Ebay Foundation, Sesame Workshop, Kirsch Foundation, Sobrato Foundation, The Entrepreneurs’ Foundation and the Council on Foundations.

A former college President at the Maine College of Art, Mr. Hero also later served as Vice President of External Relations at Caltech. Mr. Hero holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BA and MA from Williams College.


Dr. Mark Bernstein, Special Advisor

Dr. Mark Bernstein is currently a partner in Proteus Environmental Technologies and former Operating Partner with Pegasus Capital Advisors. He has 20 years experience in energy and water issues from the private, public and non-profit perspectives. These have included; Senior VP of MWW Group leading their sustainable consulting and communications activities, Managing Director of the University of Southern California’s Energy Institute and Professor of Political Science, RAND Corporation’s energy and environment policy group, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Clinton Administration, the National Renewable Energy Lab as well as United Engineers and Constructors. Mr. Bernstein helps institutions develop economic and environmental sustainability strategies with a focus on managing environmental and energy risk and reducing costs. He has experience working in Southeast Asia and Africa and has given numerous talks, and has performed analytical research on the energy, environment and water issues. He has a Ph.D. in Energy Management and Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, a M.S. in Mathematics from Ohio State University and a B.A. in Mathematics from the State University of N.Y. at Albany.
